That's the official version. Here's my take. We got to present this show last night in Wareham at the Old Methodist Meeting house, and it was one of my career highlights. Strings were getting slapped, bent and stretched in all sorts of wonderful ways, and the stage banter had everyone, performers and audience members, cracking up.
I've known Peter for several years now and I can say unequivocally he is the finest player of ballads I've ever heard; he just takes you on such an incredible journey, and no one has better tone than Peter; no one.
Before last night I knew Teja Gerken as the senior editor of Acoustic Guitar Magazine, which is a shame because he's just an amazing player; very percussive and dynamic, combining classical, jazz, with a dash of Michael Hedges; and he's really really funny! It was an honor to share the stage with both of these players. If you can take the opportunity to make a day trip for the workshop and concert; you won't be disappointed. There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance of the Blackburn so it'll be easy, and if you come to the workshop, you can store your guitars at the theater while you're out and about.
The workshop will be very player intensive, we'll have sheet music available with songs and exercises. Bring your guitars and a pencil!
Hope you can make it.
Artistry of the Guitar is a feast not only for guitar lovers, but for anyone with a passion for acoustic music. If you enjoy folk, blues, jazz, Celtic or world music with a contemporary twist you're in for a real treat!
